Assemblyman Paul Koretz
Author of Assembly Joint Resolution 39 calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The bill, which had languished in the Rules Committee for some time, was finally published, but was referred back to committee. Co-authors of the bill are Mark Leno, Rudy Bermudez, Ronald Calderon, Jackie Goldberg, Loni Hancock, Jerome Horton, and Mark Ridley-Thomas. Supporting the bill is local assemblyman Lloyd Levine. Those locally expressing no opinion yet include Fran Pavley, 41st District in which forum was held, and Richard Alarcon. The bill must pass the state legislature before being forwarded to the Judiciary Committee of the Congress for consideration. Two other states, Illinois and Vermont, have similar resolutions. Many cities and towns have passed impeachment resolutions in their city councils(including San Francisco).
