Rohde, in his opening comments, praised the courageous campaign of peace activist Marcy Winograd against incumbent Jane Harman in the 36th Congressional District. Winograd is chair of the Media Reform Committee for the Progressive Caucus as well as President of Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles. She obtained nearly 40% of the vote in 2 1/2 months of campaigning and attained national attention alongside Ned Lamont in Connecticut as one of the most important challenges to Bush Democrats.
